  • Family Visit

A family visit is typically required as part of our preschool and kindergarten application process. We invite applicant families to visit Leila Day, learn about what makes our program unique, meet some of the staff, and ask any questions about the program and application process. Families can schedule their visit when completing the online application or at a later time after submitting the application.

  • Tuition and Leila Day's Sliding Scale

Tuition for our Full Day and After School programs are based on a sliding scale according to family income. Families who live in New Haven and meet the income guidelines may also receive a tuition adjustment through the support of the state's School Readiness Program for both the full-day and part-day preschool programs. Leila Day also accepts Care4Kids.

  • Admissions Offers and Waitlist

Enrollment offers and contracts are emailed to new families beginning in late January and on a rolling basis thereafter until the school is full.

We often receive more applications than we have available spaces. If that is the case, we will ask families to confirm they would like to be placed on our waitlist. If enrollment changes occur and spaces become available, we will contact families from our active waitlist.

  • Welcome Visit

Teachers from your child’s class will contact you prior to the start of school in August to arrange a visit either in your home or at Leila Day. We want to get to know each child and offer the opportunity for parents to share information and ask questions. We will plan the visit in the location where you and your child feel more comfortable.

  • First Days of School

The first days of school are filled with excitement and sometimes uncertainty as children embark on a new experience. In order to ease the transition, our first days are shortened with both full-day and morning programs running from 8:30am to 1pm. After School Programs begin on the first full day of school.
