Who We Are
We invite you to explore and discover just what makes Leila Day a special community.
Our Mission
Leila Day Nurseries, Inc. is a nonprofit child care center serving children of working families from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. Our guiding principle is to foster the children’s social, emotional, intellectual and physical development within a warm and nurturing environment that is based on sound principles of child development and early childhood education.
Our Philosophy
Leila Day is a progressive, play-based school where childhood is revered and celebrated. We believe in schooling filled with joyful adventures, meaningful relationships, and discovery through play. Teachers plan learning experiences around the needs and interests of the children. Learning environments, both indoors and in the natural world are created with great intention in order to encourage curiosity, exploration, and experimentation. Children make discoveries, form ideas, and reach deeper understandings about themselves and their place in the world.
Our Community
Leila Day is more than a school. We are a community of children, families, teachers, staff, administrators, and board members who come together around common values. We believe in curiosity, inquiry, empathy, kindness, and diversity. We celebrate childhood and we honor the voices of young children. Our community is made up of families from all around the globe whose unique experiences and perspectives deepen our understandings of the world, one another, and ourselves.
